NCFE Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Qualification in English
Strengthen everyday English, speaking, listening, reading and writing, progressing from the basics toward greater independence and confidence.
Course overview
This Entry Level 2 qualification builds on foundational literacy to develop more capable everyday English. Through its three components, speaking, listening and communicating, reading, and writing, learners practise taking part in and responding within discussions, following the main points of short explanations, reading and understanding short straightforward texts, and writing clear sentences and short pieces of information for familiar purposes.
It suits learners who can already handle basic English and want to develop practical, transferable skills for confident, independent functioning in everyday situations. With no formal entry requirements, it welcomes adult returners and those continuing a step-by-step literacy journey.
Achieving this Ofqual-regulated qualification gives learners recognised evidence of their progress and prepares them to move on to Entry Level 3 Functional Skills English.
