NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices
Develop practical coding skills across planning, design, implementation, testing and deployment to advance in software development.
Course overview
This Level 3 qualification helps learners consolidate their existing coding knowledge and build practical, employment-ready skills. It covers the full coding workflow, including coding requirements and planning, coding design, implementation, software testing, and deployment, maintenance and configuration management.
It is designed for learners who are working, or would like to work, in coding and who want to strengthen their abilities for employment or further study. As a combined knowledge and skills qualification, it allows learners to apply what they have learned through a practical portfolio of evidence.
On completion, learners are well placed to progress to higher-level study or employment, such as a Level 4 IT or software development qualification, or a software development technician apprenticeship.
Entry requirements
- No specific prior qualifications are mandatory, though a Level 2 qualification in IT or coding is recommended.
- Typically suitable for learners aged 16 and over.
- A reasonable standard of English supports written portfolio work.
