Course overview
This regulated qualification builds both knowledge and skills relating to cyber security practices. Its mandatory units cover cyber security principles, threat intelligence, testing, vulnerabilities and controls, incident response, relevant legislation and ethical conduct, and the professional skills and behaviours expected in the sector.
It suits learners who want to move beyond awareness into applied practice, with a view to seeking employment or progressing to further study. The qualification is assessed through an internally assessed, externally quality assured portfolio of evidence and carries allocated UCAS points.
Learners gain hands-on understanding of how cyber security is delivered in practice, plus recognised progression options to university, further education or related roles.
Entry requirements
- Typically aged 16 or above.
- No specific prior knowledge required.
- A Level 2 Digital Skills or IT qualification is helpful but not essential.
- A good standard of English and maths supports success at Level 3.
